Qualter Takes A Walk On The Wild Side

15/05/2024

Having announced that Adam Watson and Leon Osborne will remain at the club for the 2024/25 season, Dave Wild is delighted to see Conor Qualter agree to join Ossett United having tried to bring him in at previous clubs he was manager of.

A central defender, Conor is no stranger to Ingfield having played on loan at Ossett Town earlier in his career whilst on the books at Halifax Town.

Qualter started his career at Leeds United before his move to the Shay where he enjoyed loan moves to Northwich Victoria and Kendal Town as well as Ossett Town. In recent seasons he has spent two seasons at Selby Town and in 2023/24 at Tadcaster Albion.

Conor also has international experience having being part of the Republic-of-Ireland under 19 set up.

For Dave Wild this is a big signing as he says “Conor is someone I know will come straight in and do what is required from minute one.

Signing another strong-minded, no-nonsense leader is exactly what is needed at the club. His experience and leadership qualities can only enhance the playing squad both on and off the field.

I’ve wanted to take Conor to previous clubs but the logistical aspects have never allowed it, so I am really excited to be working with him. I’m 100% confident that the supports will love having him in our back line this season.

We spoke at length this week and his willingness to win and push our football club forward was a breath of fresh air for me.”

Conor Qualter: “I am very pleased to be signing for Ossett United, around 11 years since I last played at Ingfield when I was on loan at Ossett Town from Halifax Town where I played alongside my brother for Craig Elliot. I loved it at the time and remember what a great club it was!

I left to go over to the USA and then unfortunately I have since had a significant period away from football due to health reasons and only came back to the game 3 seasons ago at Selby and then Tadcaster Albion where I have really enjoyed been back playing and competing.

Last season Ossett United tried to sign me mid-season but at the time I felt I needed to see the season out at Tadcaster Albion. Now the opportunity has come back around under a new Gaffa who I think I will enjoy playing under I decided to make the move.

I am hopeful we can get a strong team together and have a real go next season and I am excited to get going!”
